In a few weeks, SweetGuy and I will be empty-nesters.
People ask us how I think we’ll feel about this and I pretty much tell them I have no idea, because it’s really hard to conceive the possibility. Just SweetGuy and I? Him and I, alone? The two of us? It is hard to fathom. Here are the comings and goings of today — not an abnormal summer day in our household.
As of midnight last night, the inhabitants of the house were just the five of us normal residents. Here’s a little equation of the comings and goings today:
SweetGuy + Me + Bud + Magoo + DustMeister
- SweetGuy
- Me
- Magoo
+ Magoo
- Bud
+ Bud
+ UPS Guy
- UPS Guy
+ Me
+ Grace
+ AUBS!
- AUBS!
+ DustMeister Sibling 1
+ DustMeister Sibling 2
+AUBS!
+ Da Kaff
- Magoo
- Da Kaff
- Me
- Grace
- DustMeister Sibling 1
- DustMeister Sibling 2
+ Joel
+ Da Kaff
+ SweetGuy
+ Me
+ Magoo
+ Emmy
- Joel
+ SingingSally
+ AUBS!
- Emmy
- SingingSally
- AUBS!
- Da Kaff
- DustMeister =
SweetGuy + Me + Bud + Magoo
And here is what the equation will supposedly look like on a typical day in a few weeks:
SweetGuy + Me
-SweetGuy
- Me
+ Me
+ SweetGuy =
SweetGuy + Me
I can’t even imagine.
(However, I CAN imagine not washing dishes 8 times a day or doing 1 item of laundry of mine for every 54 of Magoo’s)
Things will certainly be a lot quieter around your house. Maybe you and SweetGuy will have to just make more dishes and laundary so it can feel more like normal.
I think we can partially adjust without the extra mess. However, some days will be so quiet that berzerker might even be bored.
At least the UPS man might come around for another visit, you never know.
