Life List

Over the last number of years, the kids and I have often talked of Life Lists.  We regularly will say someting like “I should add that to my life list” or “Check that off the life list.”  But, the problem is that even though we’ve often discussed what to put on our life lists, we haven’t written it down.  Maybe Bud and Magoo have written theirs down a little bit with a list on their cell phones… I can’t remember.  But no one has done anything very formal.  No matter.  It’s just fun to think about what I want to do before I die.  So, here I go, I’m writing down my life list and will cross things off as I do them.  I am going to put a few things on there retroactively as well, as I recall those things I’ve done over the last few years knowing it was an action that if I’d actually written down the life list, I’d get to cross it off.  Here goes, in no sensible order:

  • Ride in a helicopter
  • Run though an airport to make a plane May 2008
  • Hold my grandchild
  • Drive through the night August 2007
  • Travel to Europe
  • Go 24 hours without communicating with a human
  • Run all the way up the down escalator
  • Scuba August 2007
  • Experience the Cubs winning a world series
  • Spend an entire night outdoors
  • Go to a foreign country January 2006
  • Ride a moped
  • Ride a segway - May 2010
  • Celebrate my 25th, 30th, 40th, and 50th anniversary with the sweetest man ever
  • Travel to Australia
  • Fly first class
  • Visit Canada August 2007
  • Climb a mountain (or at least a big hill) May 2009
  • Parasail August 2006
  • Zipline August 2006
  • Hike a portion of the Appalachian Trail – August 2009
  • See an active volcano
  • Visit the current ballpark of all major league teams (Currently 11 out of 30 seen):
