Cubs!

  • 7/9/09 – I haven’t edited anything on this page since the best Cubs team I have ever witnessed was a complete debacle in the playoffs.  Swept out in the first round in a miserable fashion.  I’m still recovering.  And still paying attention to them every single day DADGUMMIT!

  • 9/15/08 – Zambrano pitched a no hitter and the Brewers got swept!!  What a day for Cubs baseball.  They are almost certainly going to win the division now, and obviously Carlos’ arm seems to be holding up nicely.  My only disappointment is the game was not on TV here and we didn’t get to see the No-No.  It would have been so exciting to hang on every pitch and then watch him clinch it.  Oh well… I have a feeling we will see some very exciting ball in the very near future!

  • 8/27/08 – Well, the Cubs are just amazing.  They hold the best record in baseball.  They are 5 games up in their division, and according to some sort of mathematical prediction, they now have a 99.3% chance to make the playoffs.  I’ll be satisfied when it’s 100%. 

  • 6/4/08 – CUBS ARE IN FIRST PLACE IN ALL OF MLB BY 2.5 GAMES!  CUBS HAVE SCORED MORE RUNS THAN ANY OTHER TEAM IN ALL OF MLB!  CUBS HAVE WON NINE STRAIGHT!  DID I MENTION THAT THEY ARE THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN ALL OF MLB BY 2.5 GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  AND DID I MENTION THIS IS SO EXCITING TO ME THAT IT DEFINITELY REQUIRES ALL CAPS AND AN EXCESSIVE USE OF EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!   AND! RED! ARROWS! TOO

  • 5/11/08 - As a Cubs fan, this weekend series was as good as it gets.  The Cubbies SWEPT the team with the best records in all of baseball.  They are now tied for 1st in their division.  Life is good. 
  • 5/9/08 – Cubs have lost 9 of the last 13 before today.  This is starting to ache a bit.  But, today they beat the best team in MLB, the Diamondbacks, so maybe things are looking up.  Magic Number = 130.  
  •  4-24-08.  Check it out the Cubs are in first place (well tied, but I’m ignoring that) in ALL of MLB!   MN = 140.
  • 4-23-08.  The Cubs are 14-6 and lead their division by 1.5 games.  They have the second best record in all of baseball.  Life is kinda crappy right now on a personal level, and the Cubs are a nice escape.  MN = 141. 
  • 4-17-08.  Cubs lost today.  Lilly is now 0-3.  I like the guy a lot, but I’m wondering when the Cubs will have to give him the hook.  Cards lost.  MN still goes down to 149. 
  • 4-16-08.  Zambrano pitched well and the Cubs scored a dozen runs.  I’ll take a hundred more games just like this one this season.  MN = 150.
  • 4-15-08 10:00 PM – Cubs win! against Dusty Baker and the Reds.  It was one of those games that it just felt like the Cubs were in control the whole game, even though they trailed in the early innings.  The Cubs don’t have many games where they dominate.  It’s fun when they do.  Cards and Brewers are both ahead of the Cubs in the standings and they are playing each other, so no matter who wins, the Cubs will gain ground.  Derek Lee was a stud tonight.  MN = 151. 
  • The Cubs magic number stands at 152.  Dempster pitches tonight at 7:05 against the Reds.
